Katie The Critic For Kids – For Kids by a Kid!

Alvin and The Chipmunks

Welcome to the first edition of my kids’ movie blog!  Last night we went to see “Alvin and The Chipmunks”, check out the official web site here.  This 2007 version of the classic “Alvin and The Chipmunks”, originally invented in 1958 by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr., is great!  The Chipmunks are adorable, funny and great singers!

The movie starts with Alvin, Simon and Theodore out in the forest collecting nuts for the winter.  Suddenly some treechoopers came along and chopped down their tree!  They ended up in the City in a Christmas tree in the lobby of Jett Records.   Dave Seville, a song writer, after being rejected again at Jett Records, ends up with The Chipmunks unexpectedly.

After Dave realizes their musical talents, the real fun begins!  Although the movies has lots of laughs and hysterical scenes, there were scenes that were sad.  One part made me cry when Ian, an ejecutive from Jett Records, was very mean to The Chipmunks and told them that Dave didn’t care about them.  I didn’t like that part very much because Ian was being greedy and wasn’t treating The Chipmunks very nicely.

The dancing was terrific, those chipmunks had the moves!  The music was a mix of classic Chipmunks and modern hip-hop.   The music scenes were very entertaining!

I gave this movie a 4 out of 5 because I thought those scenes when Ian was mean were too strong for kids.

Is it worth seeing?  YES!  I would definitely see it again!

Enjoy your next trip to the movies!

Until next time,

This is Katie the Critic

PS – Merry Christmas to All!
